Admin By Request
Overview
Admin By Request (ABR) is a security program installed on TMU-owned computers that provides end users with certain administrative permissions without the need for permanentprivileges. ABR also provides IT with additional user access logs for troubleshooting and security.
ABR allows the end user to run certain applications and installers with elevated permission. This will allow you to install, uninstall, and run applications without the need for IT to remote into your device and input admin credentials.
ABR is preinstalled by IT on all new TMU owned devices and loaners, and may be installed on your current TMU device by a request to servicedesk@masters.edu.
Mac
Run as Admin
Admin By Request will automatically prompt you when applications are installed using the Run as Admin method. Simply download the application file and follow the instructions for installation.
When you receive the below prompt, fill out the form and click Ok.
If the application is new, IT will be notified and promptly review during business hours. If this is a pre-approved application, you will be notified that the application has been installed:
Admin Session
This method is only needed if you follow the steps for installation, uninstallation, or updating, and are prompted to enter admin credentials, instead of the Run as Admin form.
If you do not see Admin By Request on your TMU-issued device, please send us an email and include the five-digit asset tag, or stop by the Service Desk between 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
Windows
Run as Admin
If you are on a Windows device, Admin By Request will likewise automatically prompt you when applications are installed using the Run as Admin method. Simply download the application file and follow the instructions for installation.
When you receive the below prompt, fill out the form and click Ok:
If the application is new, you will see the following screen, and IT will promptly review the request during business hours:
If this is a pre-approved application, you will be notified that the application has been installed.
Admin Session
If you are not able to to install, uninstall, or update an application using the form above, you may alternatively request an administrator session by opening the ABR icon in your Taskbar:
