Subject: "Install VPN"

A phishing email may coerce you to install malware on your device:

Clues: 
  • The message is clearly automated and sent from a third-party's site, instead of an internal TMU address.
  • "Mandatory," "required," and similar language in emails is a form of social engineering. The sender is attempting to coerce you to click quickly, without thinking. 
  • Generic language: "Corporate VPN." 
  • Misspelling: ExpresVPN vs ExpressVPN. 
What should I do if I receive a similar email?

Do not install any unauthorized software on your device. IT Services will not send a generic email requiring a software installation.
