Summary of Eligibility

TMU provides loaner computers to staff members while their computer is being repaired, they are coordinating and putting on events or presenting for an event, or while traveling. These computers allow staff members to keep working at full capacity while away from their office or while their primary computer is unavailable.

Policies and Restrictions

The use of these computers is governed by TMU IT Operations and is subject to the following restrictions and policies below. Agreement with the TMU Loaner Laptop Usage Policy indicates agreement to all of the following terms.
  • IT Operations loaner computers are usable by a single staff member unless otherwise approved in the original request.

  • Loaner computers are to be used for curricular activities only unless otherwise approved in the original request.

  • IT Operations will enable OneDrive on the computer during the setup process, but the borrower of the computer is responsible for making sure their data is backed up.

  • The borrower is responsible for making sure they have removed all critical data off of the loaner as all data will be erased upon return of the computer.

  • The borrower is responsible for the loaner computer’s proper use and undamaged return (normal wear and tear excluded). If the computer is damaged through negligent use, the user’s department will be charged for the repairs.

  • IT Operations loaner computers must be returned within two weeks unless otherwise approved in the original request.

  • IT Operations loaner computers are subject to availability and are considered on a case-by-case basis.
