Purpose: This document explains how to export a Canvas quiz as a QTI file. This allows for easy importing of the content into another course, or to create question banks (classic quizzes) or item banks). Once imported the quiz questions and content may be edited as normal.
1. Under the course Settings, select Export Course Content:
2. Set the export type to Quiz and check the desired quiz underneath:
3. Click the link to download the exported data as a Zip file:
Note: If you are using Classic Quizzes, follow steps 4–7 to create a question bank. If you are using New Quizzes, follow steps 8–9 to create an item bank. For more information, please see our guidance on Item Banks and Question Banks.
4. To import the quiz as a Question Bank, return to Settings and select Import Course Content:
5. Select QTI .zip file under Content Type
6. Choose File and browse for your recently downloaded zip file.
7. Select Create a new question bank (or choose an existing bank) if you are using classic quizzes: https://tmufacstaff.helpdocsite.com/quizzes/how-do-i-use-a-question-bank

8. To import the content as an Item Bank, open Item Banks, select + Bank, open your new bank, and select Import Content
9. Drag and drop or browser for the file you created in step 3:
